Getting started
Start here to connect your MW F722 to a computer and check it in Betaflight. By the end, you will have a working USB connection, a live view of the board's movement, and a saved copy of its starting configuration.
What you need
- Your MW F722 flight controller.
- A USB data cable that fits the board. A charge-only cable will not work.
- A computer with Chrome or Edge.
Keep the flight battery disconnected throughout these steps. If the board is already installed in an aircraft, remove the propellers.
1. Connect the board by USB
Place the board on a nonconductive surface and connect it to your computer with the USB cable. Keep the board still while it starts up.
2. Connect in Betaflight
- Open the Betaflight App in Chrome or Edge.
- Open the device selector at the top right. If your board is not listed, choose I can't find my USB device, select the board in the browser's device dialog, and allow the connection.
- Select the board in the app and click Connect.
Once connected, the app displays the board's setup controls. See Betaflight's connection instructions for screenshots of the device selection process.
If no device appears, try another data cable and USB port, and close any other app using the board. For further help, use the connection troubleshooting guide.
3. Check that the board responds
Open the Setup tab, then gently tilt and rotate the board. The on-screen model should respond to its movement. Betaflight's Setup tab reference explains the live preview and board information.
If the preview does not respond, resolve that issue before continuing with the build. Final board orientation is checked again after installation in the Betaflight setup guide.
4. Save your starting configuration
Before changing settings, open the CLI tab and run these commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each:
version
diff all
Copy the output into a text file, such as mw-f722-before-setup.txt. This records the installed firmware version and settings that differ from its defaults across all profiles. Both commands only read information; see the Betaflight CLI reference for details.
Click Disconnect and unplug USB before installing or wiring the board.
Continue with your build
- Hardware reference: mounting, connector pinouts, power, and UART connections.
- Betaflight setup: board orientation, receiver, flight modes, failsafe, and motor checks before your first flight.
